IS YOUR HOME AT RISK OF FIRE?
Fire safety at home is a critical concern, and one of the key areas to focus on is the proper use of electrical devices. Faulty electrics, appliances, wiring and overloaded sockets cause around 7,000 house fires across the country every year, but with the right precautions, these dangers can be easily avoided.
To avoid overloading sockets and reducing the risk of fire, follow these simple guidelines:
Check the Current Rating: Before using an extension lead, verify its current rating. Most are rated at 13 A, but some are only rated at 10 A or less. This rating should be clearly marked on the back or underside of the extension lead. If it's not visible, consult the manufacturer's instructions.

Limit High-Powered Devices: Avoid plugging multiple high-powered devices (like heaters or microwaves) into the same extension lead.

Inspect Regularly: Regularly check your extension leads for signs of wear and tear. Replace any that are damaged or frayed immediately.

Keep Ventilated: Ensure that extension leads and adapters are used in well-ventilated areas to prevent overheating.
